Meet Abigail Chang

Abigail (she/her) contributes to projects across Impact Architects' areas of work, using quantitative and qualitative methods to explore news content, information needs, and local news access. She is deeply involved in IA's news and information ecosystem assessment work, including tailoring and applying IA's News & Information Ecosystem Framework to local and state contexts, and she leads the team's copy editing and publication design.

Abigail has worked in the news and information sector as both a journalist and a researcher, experiences that shaped her understanding of the critical role news organizations play in communities and narratives. She received a bachelor's degree from Middlebury College, where she was a member of the Media Portrayals of Minorities Project—a lab using computer-assisted and human coding to analyze news content—served as Editor in Chief of the student newspaper, and wrote for the statewide nonprofit outlet VTDigger.

Abigail is based in Washington, D.C. Beyond work, she enjoys cooking and baking, long books, hiking, and various fiber crafts.

What began as a passion project has evolved into something more. We’re proud of where we’ve been and even more excited for what’s ahead. What sets us apart isn’t just our process—it’s the intention behind it. We take time to understand, explore, and create with purpose at every turn.
